Rich in many "places of memory", Tunisia carries many markers of the Second World War. Real strategic "lock" for all the belligerents, it was from November 1942 to May 1943 the theater of large-scale military operations on the customs of the region. We have chosen a nostalgic tour, whose route The route was marked by visits to French, English, Italian and German military cemeteries, but especially the places of the main battles in the south, from the Mareth Line towards Tunis.

 

 

Day 01: Tunis-Mannouba-Carthage:

The memorial tour begins with a visit to the national military museum located in the Rose Palace, also called Grand Palace or Borj El Kebir, located in the governorate of Manouba, Tunis. It is a former summer residence of Hammouda Pasha, where are installed the collections of the Military Museum of Tunisia, directed by Colonel S. Chemi.

After lunch, departure for a visit of the famous American cemetery in Carthage, also called "North Afria American Cemetry"

It is an old military cemetery, gathering on 11 Hectares the tombs of 2,841 American soldiers, inaugurated in 1960 and located near the archaeological site of Carthage.

-Departure for a guided tour of the archaeological site of Carthage.

Visit of the French military cemetery of Gammarth.

-Return to the hotel, dinner & accommodation.

 

 

Day 02: Tunis-Bizerte-Tunis:

After breakfast, departure to Bizerte towards the port. To understand the military interest of Bizerte, it is above all to take into account the exceptional meeting of a site very favorable to the development of a naval base and a particularly interesting geostrategic location. 

-Guided tour of the city, the old port, the medina and its souks, then lunch in a typical restaurant of the region.

-Return to Tunis, dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

 

 

Day 03:Tunis-Enfidha-Takrouna-Hammamet:

-After breakfast, departure for the visit of the French military cemetery in Takrouna containing 78 tyombs: Tarkouna, a Berber village perched high up, draws its charm from the splendid 360° view it offers. From the top of the "Blue Rock", the mythical café, one can indeed have a view of the sea, Bouficha, Zaghouan, Enfidha.

-Guided visit of the cemetery, then return to Hammamet,

-Installation at the hotel, evening dinner & accommodation.

 

 

Day 04: Hammamet-Tunis:

-After breakfast, check in and departure for a visit of the old town of Hammamet and Nabeul.

-Lunch in a typical restaurant in Nabeul.

-Return to Tunis.
