MAJESTIC AND BEWITCHING!!!!

A true architectural masterpiece, Lella Chedlya Palace is one of those places that remain forever engraved in the memory. Nestled in the heart of Carthage Salammbô, a few steps away from the Punic Tophet of Carthage, an ancient sacred area dedicated to the Phoenician deities, and close to the Punic port, it conceals many secrets within its walls.

History tells that this palace owes its name to Princess Chedlya, 3rd wife of Bey Mohamed El Habib who reigned over Tunisia from 1922 to 1929, and who acquired this house in 1926. Built on a plot of land in the gardens of the former Palace of Minister Khaznadar, it is a magnificent heritage jewel.

The palace was then bequeathed to his daughter, Princess Fatima, who died prematurely at the age of 29, and her husband General Ahmed Caïd Essebsi. Subsequently, their children sold the property in 1967 to Bakhta Belkheria wife Boujemâa, and it was in 2004 that Pascal Prieur fell in love with this architectural marvel and made it his new home.

During 14 years of work, he worked hard to restore this lustrous palace of yesteryear.

Its architecture is the perfect reflection of its history, made of a mixture of styles and numerous architectural elements, completed by each new owner. The oldest part is the smallest, but without a doubt the most elaborate, as evidenced by its traditional ornamentation, its woodwork and its superb antique earthenware. It is attached to an eminent building whose large terrace, surmounted by an ancient Roman temple, offers a superb view of the sea and the Punic port.

The six suites of the house are carefully decorated and furnished. We discover there an exceptional antique furniture, which the master of the place has kept for many years. But the charm of the house lies also and especially in its garden.

Luxuriant and embellished with a pool and a majestic swimming pool, it reminds us with emotion of the magnificent Andalusian gardens.

An exceptional residence, Lella Chedlya Palace opens its doors to lovers of history and architecture. And maybe one day it will reveal new secrets still buried... !
